    How do you stick on a diet and keep up your exercise program while timesharing and other traveling?

    I diet before we go on vacation so I don't have to while we are vacationing.

      I find it easier to stay on a diet when I'm on vacation than when I'm at home. I'm a stress eater, so when I get stressed I eat. Since I am much more relaxed on vacation, I eat less.
      I also walk much more on vacation than I do when I am home. So between the 2 I have yet to gain weight while away. (knock on wood)
      Since 90% of our vacations include either the beach (swimming) or touristy areas where there are lots to see by foot; we find it easy to keep some semblance of a fitness routine.
      In the last 2 months I have started weight training at the gym...but I am foregoing that while on vacation.

        Many resorts have exercise equipment or the other resorts close by may have.
        There are beaches to walk or trails to climb. Handle all of your own luggage... no wheels! Take no elevators. Swim a lot.

        Food? Only take "diet food" into your unit. That way when you eat out, you can order what you want. Do not get doggy bags for the extra. Leave it. Keep that in mind when you are ordering.

        You know I follow all of this... I'm 5-10 and 255.

            This is a trick question right?

            Unfortunately I travel with 2 food hounds that must eat 3 meals a day plus snacks. I usually manage to avoid the snacks.

            I normally will just have a piece of fruit for breakfast, some soup or a small salad for lunch and whatever I make those 2 I join in for dinner.

            While away we generally will eat breakfast and lunch in. Eggs & toast or cereal or pancakes. Lunch is generally sandwiches. I usually don't consume that much food on any given day. Carb overload for me!

            In fact I looked in the mirror yesterday and decided I need 2 do a strict 2 week induction when we get home...

              A big high protein breakfast seems to help. Also, I used to only pack snacks for the kids, now I include healthy snacks for me, too. Sometimes we all pic-nic lunches too. (Depends where we are.) Helps keep costs in line, and then I don't stress about the more fun splurges.

                An interesting topic for me... If you're going to eat at the timeshare, then the first thing to do when you arrive at your destination is to go grocery shopping. And then if you're traveling with guests or family members you feel like you have to have a ton of food options - snacks, drinks, etc... This is the point in the process where I go wrong every single time! We always end up with a lot more snacks than we normally carry at home.

                Looking back on it, that's the decision point where I (we) need to make smart choices! That and the exercise advice given previously should help, at least for me...

                  I always take my Magic Bullet and have my morning smoothie which keeps me full and is completely portable for a walk around the grounds. I make use of the fitness rooms, also, but rarely the pool as they are usually not made for lap swimming.

                  We like to walk around the small towns and explore, and usually find a big park for hiking.

                  We don't eat out a lot so can easily control what's in the kitchen. It's do-able. You just have to plan and stick to your guns. Oh, and drink a ton of water.

                    I follow a see-food diet while I'm on holidays and I get my exercise bending my elbow.

                    But before and after, that's another story. Back on Atkins in preparation for my Hawaii trip in a few months.

                        Bring along diet menus, e.g. Weightwatchers, and use the kitchen rather than eat out. Go to resorts with good fitness facilities, walking/running trails, lap pools etc. and use them.
