I don't like going from resort to resort, either, and if you "kept me on my toes" with three destinations in a five day period that includes lots of driving and a flight in between, you could forget about any, er, romance, because I'd have killed you...

    Anyone disagree?

How about a night at a shmancy place in the city with a lavish dinner, spa/etc... and then the flight to Florida for the private island...

Or, if you are hell bent on the castle and the island, definitely fly into Key West and don't spend a night in Miami on the way down, it's a LONG drive from Miami to Key West.

Nope, I agree with you......Frank, keep it simple. Fly into Key West, and spend a couple of nights on Key West, and two, or three nights on the island. This way, you will get to relax, and really enjoy the experience. No need to do anything else. JMHO

The scissors is very appropos Ms Bobbitt!

        Just the private island Frank.

There will be birthdays etc for a visit to the castle as you aren't an hour's drive from the place.

Why don't you do the castle for her birthday, instead, and make a nice weekend of it?

Can you fly into Key West, instead of Miami?

he woman at the Island said that it is much easier to fly into Miami and drive down, The reason she gave was that the lay overs to catch the flight to Key west can take longer than the drive and the cost to get to key west is very high. I really wanted to do the castle sort of like a fairy tale and I know she wants to stay in one.

It even says on there website to go from Miami

You could check flights out of Westchester County Airport Frank. Airport code HPN. I know AA, US and Jet Blue fly out of there but the longterm parking is a bit screwed up.

Alright, I can tell that you really have your heart set on the castle......I'm sure that she'll love it, too. It is beautiful!

I know that Miami is only about 150 miles from Key West, but, it can take as long as 4 hours to get there, depending on when you're driving. That's the only reason that I was suggesting flyng into Key West.....I guess maybe it's a wash.

Since this resort seems like a little bit of a pain to get to, Should I start looking at another resort on it's own Island or stay with this one?

Here's a list of travel and leisure affordable private island retreats. Not sure how much easier they will be to get to. But, just in case you wanted to check out some other private islands. There are some in Belize, and the Virgin Islands.

Nevermind Frank......I just looked at what these resorts offer, and wasn't at all impressed.

Fraaaaaaannnnnkkkk! I know you want to do the castle, but I would do what Angela or Lawren or somebody suggested--JUST the island. Then you can really relax and enjoy it. I know your wife is a lovely adventurous sort, but I know I don't start to unwind for at least a day after I arrive somewhere. And I wouldn't like going home in the middle. Just fly to Miami and go to this unbelievable place and enjoy it! Save the castle for her bday or your next anniversary or just a really nice weekend.

It was me, then Lawren, and Angela, and now you. Interesting, all the women on the thread.... then we tried contorting our opinions to help Frank get the castle in too, but it's too much.

[SIGN]Just the Island, Frank[/SIGN] Maybe some Key West and the island, but keep it to one general destination, for the sake of your anatomy....

Right, and you can make it very fun and mysterious, this long journey by car and plane and rental car and swimming with the dolphins and leaping with the gazelles (or whatever it is)...to get....WHERE? WHERE? And then it's this beautiful place that she's probably never heard of, but it's soooo nice!

OK to many woman saying to skip the Castle so I am starting to think about cutting it out. Do you think I can do a Friday or Saturday night in Miami or should I leave Saturday and do a day in Key west? If I left Friday night it would be easy to get my car and go to a Miami hotel. Or Forget about the hotels and just book Saturday to Wednesday at the Island.

Yes, yes, do this one! She will love it! Then put your planning energy into figuring out how to make the trip really romantic and mysterious. Go, Frank, go!
