If you are flying to Key West, just head directly there. She'll think the trip is to Key West and be surprised when you go to the island.

If you are planning to fly to Miami and drive to Key West, go Friday, stay one night in Miami, then drive to Key West, it'll be a three stage surprise.

If you do decide to drive to Key West, I recommend only driving one way and flying back directly from Key West. The drive is long, and won't be very interesting on the way back, expecially when you'll have to give up time on the island to take it, and will be driving all that way just to get on a plane.

Obviously, if it were up to me, I'd fly to Key West. The plane from Miami is small (at largest only about 20 passengers) and the flight is short and kind of fun (if you like small planes). On the way back last time, we were in a plane so small it was just four passengers and the pilot, like a private jet.

OK to many woman saying to skip the Castle so I am starting to think about cutting it out. Do you think I can do a Friday or Saturday night in Miami or should I leave Saturday and do a day in Key west? If I left Friday night it would be easy to get my car and go to a Miami hotel. Or Forget about the hotels and just book Saturday to Wednesday at the Island.

On Friday, tell DW she is going on a cold weather AND warm weather trip....

Saturday, have the limo pick u up and go to the castle......

Sunday, have the limo pick u up and take u to the airport and get a 7-8pm flight to Miami after spending a nice day at the castle.

Stay at the airport.....Hilton, Embassy Suites, whatever....wake up refreshed on Monday and drive/fly to Key West and get the boat to the island......

I would be okay with that.....

G, if it were me , I would lose the castle.....and stay in Key West 2 nights and then go to the island.....but this is FRANK !

I rather drive 3 hours in Florida than fly out of Newark.

Ok, well that settles that. I did fly out of Newark, but we left from the city so it was easy. Delta used to fly into Key West -- we were originally ticketed on Delta out of LGA, but they changed the flight so we ended up on Continental out of Newark.

If you insist in on staying in Miami, don't stay at the airport. Take her somewhere fabulous like the Delano, or someplace else in SoBe on the ocean. Otw, go to Key West...

With out a doubt 4 or preferably 5 star in South Beach or Miami or Key West or something on the way that is beach front. I am thinking of using Price line caue I have gotten 5 star Westen resorts in Florida that are beach front for under $100 a night and those same rooms went for $400.
They charged me in full for 1 night now and if I was to cancel even 1 day from now I lose $100 per day that I booked which is $300. If I cancel with in the last 14 days I lose the whole deposit.

I also say do the castle only. If you get to Key West you will want to stay!! It is a long drive to Key West from Miami. I'm not sure but US Air used to go to Key West. shaggy
