Son, Jerald is overnighting at Durango after trying to stay out of storms.

Tomorrow he'll scout the area and head east on SR-160 and up I-25 through Colorado Spring and on to Denver to visit.

Then he'll head for Kansas City, across I-70.

What should he take in? He has Tuesday and Wednesday. Thurday evening he has business at KC.

Too late now, but if anyone else takes the same route, the Great Sand Dunes National Monument (on 150 north from US 160 SW of Pueblo) is worth a visit.

And the Cathedral of the Plains (near I-70 around Victoria KS) is interesting.

Robert, those are beautiful, BEAUTIFUL photos of this area in Colorado! Many of us do not realize how magnificent our scenery is in some of the regions of this country. Give him a compliment.

What? No pics of KS? Did he miss the worlds largest (concrete) ground hog? How about the worlds largest hand dug well in what's left of Greensburg, KS? Don't tell me he didn't see the worlds largest (or second largest. Denping on who's added the most twine) ball of twine?

I'm assuming that he found I-70 through KS to be less than a thrilling drive.

I don't know how I missed the original post, but I did. Next time he's in Durango...there's a train ride that goes up the San Juan Mountains to Silverton. The train station is downtown. There are some beautiful views as the train tracks along the river up to Silverton. Silverton is an old gold mining, one street town that sits at the top of the mountains. There are some little shops and a couple of restaurants there.
It is beautiful in that area, great pictures!

Wonderful photos! Wolf Creek Ski Resort is the ski area near Pagosa Springs where the Wyndham TS is. Southern Colorado is not as well known as other Colorado ski areas up north. It's a great area for summer or winter fun.

By the time he got to Phoenix, his legs and back were aggrivated.

The buyer had a Vibe for him to deliver in Kansas City, so after visiting near Flagstaff he planned on going via The Canyon, Zion, Bryce and Capital Reef NP while enroute. I had talked him into the SR-12 and 24 Scenic Bypass, as he intended to visit Denver. He made it up to the Hole.



Weather turned him back, southward. He held another night near Flagstaff, allowed the storm to move eastward and dropped in behind.




As he crossed Monument Valley, going along US-160, he shot a few monuments as the skys would clear.







He called me on his drive into Durango. The temp was 29, going for 17. It would have been supurb scenic with snow and ice, but Jerald didn’t have proper attire. He had what would fit in backpack and carryon bag, for the flight out of KC. NO trainride!

He did drive through Garden of the Gods
on his way to Denver.
After visiting, he made for KC with no Do & See stops. He was worn out as it was, by the time he finished business.

Jerald was playing the game of not catching up to one but staying ahead of the next storm. He wanted to get the flight out of KC before it socked in.

I know you are wishing for snow!
