Dear Friend:
Thank you for writing me to express your support for SB0166, a bill allowing the direct shipment of wine to Tennessee residents who are 21 years of age or older for personal use.
You will be pleased to learn that I signed this bill into law on June 4, 2009. I believe this will be favorable to consumers and provide them with a wider variety of personal options. Under its provisions, the manufacturer, producer, supplier, importer, wholesaler, distributor, or retailer must obtain a wine direct shipper license from the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission. The bill is effective on July 1, 2009.
