Woot : One Day, One Deal (SM)

I'm getting to the point where I'm not so thrilled with Woot. Out of the 5 or 6 items I've bought, two have been suspect at best. The electronic picture frame I purchased generated a trojan horse warning when I put the software on my computer and the recent Vornado Zippy fan didn't zip (it doesn't work at all). Of course the prices were so cheap it wasn't worth the expense of returning the items so, I have one item that arrived not working and another item that arrived and created work. I'm starting to wonder if Woot is more of a crap shoot than it's worth. I'm certainly second guessing if I ever wanted to spend a significant amount of money with them.

I've had pretty good luck with most of their stuff. But I try not to buy anything high-ticket. By far the most expensive thing I ever got from them was a refurb iPod. It's working fine, about a year later.

So far so good with Woot and 1 sale a day stuff here, but one has to be careful to judge the quality before buying. I bought a cordless electric razor that is really not impressive, but the darn thing does work. I've just about given up on the bag of crap as I can't spend all day waiting for their server to go down.

Just went over there and the site is down for repairs.

I would buy some of the emergency flashlights, but the only time I happened to see them up when I visited they sold out in less than a minute.

The mandolin slicer seems to have clogged things up. It left me wondering why, if I owned a mandolin, I would want it sliced. Then I thought, maybe it some kind of a slicer attachment, that allows one to use a mandolin to slice potatoes, beets, and carrots. Maybe it's a John Belushi inspired samurai mandolin slicer? I don't know and no matter how I configure it, a mandolin slicer is not in my future.

Here the day is half gone, I finally get onto the TS4M, and I find out a wootoff is going off. Boy am I late.

But then on the other hand, it is mostly for entertainment, not for buying stuff.
