We sign up for christmas Mountain Cable, not the best system, but okay if you are only here 6 months a year. Doesn't cost that much, about $25 a month. Goes out of service frequently, but we had an antenna for backup. After our snowstorm view turned into a blizzard, we switched to the antenna and tried to hook up the converter boxes. couldn't get any picture.
so we called the front desk, about 8 times and they finally sent someone out.
Now i want to mention we have been paying for this for almost 20 years, and last year they sent out a contract for you to accept or decline service, they had fixed the lines, and if you declined you were to be disconnected.
The service guys went out with my husband to our cable junction (back in the woods behind our house). 8 splinters off our box, but only two people paying in the neighborhood. the reason for our weak signal, it is being diverted to everyone else. No lock on the cable box, no knowledge of who the other payer is, never even saw the cable box before which means the threat to disconnect was an empty one.
they promised to come back next week and clean up the mess of cable and make sure we are on a direct line. some people in the neighborhood may have a dark tv.
Just as an aside, in April my daughter's friends had a baby shower for her at my house on a Sat afternoon. some of them had to park on the street. Everyone was over 30. Someone called the police on them; the police said it was the first time they raided a baby shower. Two people at the party were on our 5 member board of directors. Right now my opinion of my neighbors is a bit low.
