  • Energy From The Wind

The creation of wind is the result of the shining sun. As long as the sun shines, the wind will also blow. Wind possesses a great deal of strength within itself. It is believed that the wind energy present in the atmosphere is much greater than what is required by the world. A study reveals that the potential of wind power on land and near-shore to be 72 terrawatts (TW), or over five times the world's current energy use in all forms (15 TW from all sources in 2005).

How this wind is formed? Wind is formed by the uneven heating of the earth by the sun’s rays. As the air just above the earth’s surface gets heated up, it moves to give its place to the heavier and cooler air above it. This causes the wind to flow.

Tapping the wind energy would require the installation of wind turbines, which have blades that are rotated by the blowing wind. The blades are connected to a drive shaft that turns an electric generator to produce electricity. Many new technologies have come up in recent times that have contributed increasingly towards the decrease in cost of producing electricity. This has led to a huge inflow of wind turbine investments (link removed)

Let me see, your very first post mentions investments and not in timesharing......

Awww. I wanted to know. Well...probably not.

I do believe wind power will be an important part of energy production, I don't believe it will be a back yard energy source. I keep threatening to play with a car alternator and some form of wind catcher design and see if I can charge some batteries to use with an inverter for lighting.

I wouldn't take investment advice from someone who doesn't even understand the forces that cause wind. Wind would blow even if the earth were not heated by the sun at all.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

        “You shouldn't wear that body.”

But the best kite flying (inland) is on the sunnier days. You get a nice breeze about mid day.

That has nothing to do with wind turbines, and the OP numbers are off. Science Friday did a bit on wind powered electricity generation last week, or week before.

No, don't worry. I am not taking his advice. I can loose investment money on my own. I bought amazon today figuring it would gap up. It didn't.

Wind power will never be an alternative energy source but rather a small supplement. We have many windmill farms in California occupying thousands of acres.

I have no idea what you are trying to say.
