According to Fox News, Swayze's publicist has confirmed that the actor passed away this afternoon after battling pancreatic cancer.

He fought cancer with courage. I've always admired him. Even tho he was "Hollywood" type he was so down to earth and one of the rare ones who lived up to his commitments in life. I have watched Dirty Dancing I don't know how many times. May he rest in peace. shaggy

I always liked him, and loved the fact that he and his wife were married for so long since before he was famous. Dirty Dancing is one of my favorites. RIP.

Pancreatic cancer is awful. I saw my father in law with it. I pray for his soul and family and hope he is in a better place.
He was a good actor.
