We were at Poipu Bay in December, 1999. He had won the US Open, so was to be one of the players in the Gland Slam @ Poipu Bay Country Club. Davis Love III played for him, as they were great friends.
The big banner was still up when we were there, and they left Payne's name on everything. I can still see his pose after sinking the legendary putt at Pinehurst. One of my all time favorites as well. R.I.P. Payne, the tour's not the same without you.JimComment
