Matt Elias is a classmate of mine and played Plebe Soccer with me.
90 days of smooth sailing and ice cream, interrupted by a daily missile launch drill, rough life compared to six months of getting beat up by the elements with an occasional port call.

Served 2 years on the USS JACK (SSN 605) a Fast Attack Nuclear Sub.

Served 2 1/2 years on the USS Gato (615) a Fast Attack Nuclear Sub.

Served 3 years on USS Nathan Hale (SSBN 623) a Fleet Ballistic Missile Nuclear Sub. Of the 3 years I think I completed 7 full patrols.
