I was up close to 6 am watching him, As soon as I got up I took him right to the vet where they are keeping him now. He looks like he did before the seizure so I think he is fine.
Beags, I did not expect this. I was told if he was slump to put Karo syrup on his lips but the dog was acting nutting as norm yesterday.
Oh Frank, I feel your pain. It is so hard to have a sick pet and you love them so much. You were lucky that you were able to get the right advice when it was most needed.
I am so sorry to hear about your dog. I have had many pets put to sleep and I can tell you it is just awful! It will be hard to manage your dogs illness but I am sure you will do all you can do. After all, they are family and we do all we can do for family. Keep us posted and give your dog a big hug for us all.

Frank, I am so sorry this is happening. I hate to tell you this, but when my dog was in end-stage diabetes, her decline began when she had a seizure. After that she stopped eating. Of course we couldn't give her the insulin if she didn't eat. The vet was giving us directions each day. The last week, we checked her in as a day patient each day where she was kept on IV fluids for the day, then I picked her up after work and took her home for the night. This went on for a week, and she ate a meal so we stopped the treatments. She ate for one day then stopped again. I called the vet who said to bring her in again (she was 12), but we said no, that she gave it a real try for us and that we couldn't put her through it again. She passed on Dec. 19th.
I hope that your experience with Tuffy is different and that this is just a bump in the road, but watch him carefully and love him up.
PS - instead of syrup, we bought a tube of cake icing (the small tube) and squeezed 1/2 of it into her mouth. This can be used if he is too weak to lick up the syrup.

Oh boy thats tough to read. I think it is a bump in the road right now he looks great again. The Vet wants me to now cut back the insulin to just 1 unit 2x a day. Thanks for the icing tipo that is good to know.
