How many of you text on your cell phones? We don't, but I am thinking the next time we renew our contract in a year, we might add it to our contract.

I work in a school, and a couple of years ago I had to text my son because he was in class and I needed to reach him. So I grabbed a kid in the hallway and said "do you know how to text message?". He looked at me like I was the biggest idiot, but he did me the favor and texted the message for me and it reached my son. After that I learned to text because my kids prefer to text rather than call. Then I learned to take photos on my phone and send them. But that is the extent of it - none of the fancy stuff. We added the unlimited texting for $20/months which worked out so much cheaper than 10 cents a message to both read OR send them.

I had to change carriers Oct. 1 and got a free phone from Sprint, so it's ready to do all those neat things (if I were to set it up that way or buy what ever is necessary), but my cell is for emergencies only and I seldom use it. If I want to talk to someone I'll either call or email. I'm too old for some of this stuff

I laughed at this because that was me too....grabbing a kid at my kids school so I could send a hurry up message for mine while I was waiting at the gate for him.

Since then-I have become an avid texter. It helped that I changed phones to one that has a Qwerty keyboard. That 3 letters on one key thing was too frustrating for me.

It's not going away. The teens love it and whether I want texting or not I constantly receive them and have to pay for them so I added unlimited texting for $5.00 a month with sprint and now I am learning to appreciate not having to stop to take a call but can multitask with texting.

My niece can text about 5000 messages a month and she's only 15.
She's out of control but a straight A student so who am I to judge her.

With kids in School it is the only way to get in touch during School. Also great to get the boys together for our drinking nights

Texting - really neat if you set up sources to send you texts regarding updates you would want. For example, one can setup one's twitter account to receive important text messages (like those from CNNBRK) for important updates.

Sprint, TMobile etc. has plans that include text messaging at a reasonable cost.

Things keep getting less and less personal. Now people don't even want to talk for a minute...

That said, we have resisted the texting craze. My nieces in college prefer it, but know to call me. My granddaughters will join the phone owners in a year or so, and I imagine I will have to text to keep up with them!

What makes me CRAZY is that 9 of 10 drivers I see are talking on the phone or texting. And we used to think smokers and radio station changers were dangerous and preoccupied...

No, but they charge $ 249 a year.

I pay $360 per year for unlimited text but it covers five phone lines. Just the one that covers 15yr old daughter makes that worth it.
