I've been meaning to post this . . . the real reason I need to get a new computer is because DW doesn't want me using/hogging hers.

      I am with you.
what important documents do I have?

I have directions for about 20 different golf games I do for couples golf.
I have lists of couples golf members.
I think I will survive if I lose them

It is the picutres and now itunes that I need to save and my Turbo Tax files for 6 different tax returns.

I am going to an ITunes and Ipod class on Monday at the Apple store. They recommended an external hard drive. I might try this, get a new computer for Wisconsin and leave the old one here in Florida, or vice versa.

You will never know what's important until it's gone. On some of my important files which get updated fairly often, I use e-mail(attachments) to keep temporary back-ups of the files. I have at least one e-mail which has no storage size limitations. Of course you need more than one e-mail address to do that and there are many free ones available.

so Tony, you copy, paste into an email and email it to yourself.

that is a pretty good idea. I have lots of email accounts.

No, I send the file(usually excel) as an attachment. This also let's me access the file with any computer(as long as it has excel or open source programs).
