  • Turbo Tax won't download on my computer

I tried to download the disk, nothing happened. went to Office Max and they replaced it. Still won't download. nothing happens. Called Turbo Tax, they downloaded it into my account. It is on the desktop but won't run. Spent three hours on line with technical support, they had me uninstall 2008 version, still won't run. Has any one heard of this happening and how to fix it?

I have used a free online service for the last few years. The site is FreeTaxUSA™ FREE Tax Filing, Online Return Preparation, E-File Income Taxes

Your federal return is free, and it is $9.95 for a state return. You hit "submit" and it is filed. I had a receipt from the IRS and my state tax board about six hours later saying my returns were accepted.

You pick a password and they store your info for next year. You can print out, or for about $5.00 they will send you a professionally printed copy.

Edited to add: I just checked my checking account. My taxes were accepted on 2/19. The refund is in my checking account today, 2/22. Okay, it's not much of a refund, but I can't complain about the service.

I think it won't install instead of download. Could it have something to do with your security software? What Operating System do you have? I've used Turbo Tax for probably 25 years with no problems.

yes, it won't install. they thought it might be my security, I unblocked the firewall, that didn't help. any suggestion? using comcast antispy, but cvan't locate it on my computer.

I have to do 6 returns, and some are complicated and higher income. i like to be able to set aside and come back to them.

You might want to contact tech support at Comcast and see if they can tell you how to temporarily turn off the security.

Yes, turn off everything - antivirus especially can interfere but TT will not have tested for every possible app a pc might be running. Go to Task Manager and see what is running and stop non-essentials.

if you are on Vista or Win7, there is a UAC to noodle with.

I am going to assume you have administrative rights to the pc.

I couldn't install turbo tax disc that they sent to me. Called customer service and got it downloaded for me from their website for free. I have been using turbo tax for about ten years and they always mail me a renewal disc which I pay for when I download it so getting it for free showed great customer sevice.

Turbo Tax did give me a download, the icon is on my computer, but nothing happens when I click on it. Did all this with Turbo Tax sharing my screen.

when I go to Task manager, nothing is running.
When I go to applications, i don't know what it all means.
