  • How to copy DVD to flash drive

I have several dvds that I would like to copy to flash drive to play on my netbook. After putting both in my computer, how do I procede? I can watch the dvc on my computer but can't get it to the flash drive. Do I need to use a special program? Without getting too technical, can someone please give step by step instructions?

Google led me to several Moavi downloads but don't know which one or if I even need one. TIA

This is why I don't want a netbook. I would ask a friend or family if they can copy the DVD to their computer and then from there copy it to your flash drive and then to your netbook. There may be better answers.

If I can get it on to the flash gadget, my netbook has a usb port to put the gadget. Hopefully it won't be too hard.

If you want to copy then you need to convert the dvd into a format recognizable by your netbook (.avi, .wmv, .mp4, .flv, etc). There are several programs out there that will do this; to varying degrees of acceptability (there's an issue with copy protection and region encoding for commercial dvd's).

The other way to go is to get an external dvd player that connects to your usb port. I know the basic difference between a laptop and a netbook is the computing power - so I'm not sure if there's enough umph to make it work without a stutter here and there. I'd buy from a local computer store (best buy, fry's) so you can return if it's not satisfactory. Here's a link to options at Newegg.com, just to give you an idea of what's out there.

I know the size of an external dvd drive is much bigger than a thumb/flash drive - but it's a whole lot easier, even factoring in lugging it around.

It is very simple. I just bought my first little flash drive because I was going to buy a notebook without a CD/DVD burner to keep it light but I changed my mind. I plugged the thing in yesterday into my iMac and copied a whole folder of pictures and then plugged it into the PC and put the folder there. I remember that it even asked me if I wanted to burn a CD which I didn't need to do. I don't remember on which computer it asked me.

Just follow directions. Make sure that you remove the hardware safely. There is an icon for that at the bottom right side of your screen. I believe it was the K drive.

I forgot to do this with the Mac so my photo files were corrupted on the flash drive but I did it over again. The Mac is very sensitive about this as I have ruined once a bunch of files on an external hard disk too because I forgot to do this properly. The light should not be flickering before you unplug the gismo.

I have a question too because I am not sure of this. Does a netbook only have a Wi-Fi connection or can you connect to your FiOS of DSL or cable? Is it possible to use a broadband wireless modem which I have with Verizon?

This is good to know but now you have two items to lug around and to lose or forget while traveling. We just got back from Maui and I left everything in the little pocket in front of me. Nobody had found it.

Go to Verizon site check out their netbooks I got the mini 311 and like it very much I did do movies on a usb and had shudder every once in a while but I expected to do that from what I had read before I got it. I got mine with internet plan and yes it has wi-fi card and you can plug in to a modem wiht a cad5 cable.
