  • speakers on my computer problem

I have brought my computer back and forth from Wisconsin to Florida for years. the same problem keeps happening, the speakers won't work in Wisconsin. I thought if i brought the Florida speakers back with me it would solve the problem but it doesn't, no sound at all. plugged in the same way it was in Florida, outlet works, i verified that.

            Testing the Speakers

Test the speakers - Unplug the cable from the back of the computer, and insert the stereo plug into the headphone jack of a Walkman, Discman or FM radio and play music. If the speakers are ON and working and the cable is good, you should hear the music from the walkman on the speakers.

                  RE:speakers on my computer problem

Check the physical condition of the wiring to the jacks. A crackling sound there shows a bad connection. If none of these seem to be the problem, check the audio drivers. Right click on My Computer, click Hardware tab, expand Sound video and game controllers and check for drivers there. They may have become corrupt and need reloading.

Let me guess---is it an HP computer ? I periodically have to change speakers on my Compaq to get sound--when the newest hooked up stops working, I put the originals back. Try a different set of speakers.

I have used a turntable to the computer to copy my records to MP3 format. When I do this, I loose audio control of my computer. I now have a dedicated laptop to do this process so it doesn't screw up my desktop audio/speakers.

Shortly after the Conchman died, the speakers started working. Coincidence or Ron's work?
