  • Olympus FE-47 or Olympus T-100

    Hello friends..
I am looking at buying a new point & shoot digital camera, but can't decide between Olympus FE-47 and Olympus T-100. Olympus T-100 is a 12 Megapixel digital camera with 3x optical zoom, 2.4" LCD, creative art filters and intelligent Auto. Olympus FE-47 is 14 Megapixel with 5x optical zoom, 2.7" LCD, face detection, digital image stabilization. Can anyone point me in the right direction and help me to choose the best one?

    Thanks in advance.

On one of my timeshare stays, there was a class from a professional photographer. He strongly suggested to have a camera with higher zoom over the higher megapixels. After 3-5 megapixels (can’t remember exactly), you are paying for something you won’t use unless you are going to print very large (8X10 or larger) pictures.

My camera is not point and shoot. If I remember correctly, it is an Olympus SP-550UZ model with 18X optical zoom and a 3X digital zoom. It allows me to take a picture of stream, just like everyone else, but I can zoom in on the fisherman in the stream to the point where I can see his face and everyone else is just seeing that there is someone way back in the water.

My wife scrapbooks, and this makes me a scrapbook widower many weekends. She has a low optical zoom point and shoot. Who do you think ends up taking more of the pictures? Me. I can set up shots with the many scene and light settings and get pictures she just can not.

It really doesn’t take long to learn a good camera settings, and most people are happier with a little better camera than a basic point and shoot.

Not going to tell you what to buy, but think about stepping up a little on the zoom and the settings the camera has to offer.
