  • Droid help Yahoo small business email account

I have an issue that is truly driving me to distraction with my Droid smartphone from Verizon.

I have 2 Yahoo Mail account. One is a run of the mill personal e-mail and has worked fine since day one. The other is a Yahoo small business account which didn't work at all until last week as Verizon had loaded it incorrectly when they set up the phone.

I was lucky enough to borrow an IT guy last week and he reset it. Now it receives the e-mail and I can read them and reply but after I hit send they go nowhere and sit in my out box.

The purpose of getting the phone in the first place was to be able to access my work and particularly e-mail when I can't be at my laptop.

Has anyone run across this problem that could help me change whatever it is that needs changing? Verizon and Yahoo are worse than useless.

    Lawren,
Not sure if this is your problem or not but it could be.
Some email accounts require you to be logged in if trying to send (smtp server) from an outside network. In my case my road runner account works like this. If I attach my phone via wireless on my home network I need to be not logged in via password but when using an outside network like the verizon 3G I need to set the email to log in via password on smtp server.
The Yahoo business acct may work that way.
You can test if this is needed by going to the email acct and then choosing settings from menu, then choose account settings,
The first page will show email acct.
pick next, the second page will show the incoming (POP) server info.
pick next, this page will show outgoing (SMTP) server info.
at the top of page check the login required box and enter user name and password for account ie:email address.
make sure you are not connected via wifi on home network during this process and be connected thru 3G.
If this goes pending sent emails should go out and new ones should also.
Hope I explained this process well enough as I think this is probably your problem.
I have the ERIS droid os but should essentially be the same for DROID.
    let me know... Ken H.

<sigh> No...but I did eventually find this on the droid forums:
Yahoo Small Business Email - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

"You enter different stuff that you do for the regular Yahoo email. Here it is:

Incoming Mail Server (POP3): pop.bizmail.yahoo.com Use SSL, port: 995
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.bizmail.yahoo.com Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication "

I really hate to admit that I have no clue on how to access the settings on the phone to change them. I'll bring the info with me over to Verizon today and see if one of their people will help.

Of course this week is the one where I'm running around like crazy and could really use full functionality.

This is why you should have bought an iPhone. It takes about 30 seconds to set up an email account.
