  • New Yahoo mail?

I probably will have to upgrade this time.

Both my work and personal e-mail accounts are yahoo based. Usually works fine on my smartphone, once I found the settings for the small business account, but seems to trip over itself on my laptop. Both mail accounts lock up or I'll be in my business account and I'll try top send e-mail and I'll get an error message. Or it shows my personal account. Sometimes it is like pulling teeth getting work done.

I'm still running Yahoo classic for the simple reason that the in the middle upgrade, I couldn't toggle between e-mail accounts easily. I backed out to classic. Now Firefox can't even access Yahoo mail of any flavor and IE gives me expired license stuff that I have to dig around.

Has anyone done the newest version yet? Do you like it? I'd rather hear about what I'm in for than just plunge in as I have found nothing good about Yahoo support.

I routinely access Yahoo mail using Firefox with no problem. The only problems that occur are when Yahoo is having server problems, as they were for awhile this morning.

I switched a few months back and haven't had any major issues. Not sure if it's just my laptop or not but have run into some server issues the past few days. Other than that I like it, I just use it for my personal email so it's a very basic usage and haven't really explored any of the other features, but it works for me.

Well that certainly takes some of the urgency to upgrade away. TYVM. Normally I run both accounts, one in each browser and that usually helps. Knowing it was them and not me is a relief.

Still curious as to the new version they are pushing.

I assume that you mean that you have two completely different browsers (e.g., Firefox and IE) when you are accessing two different Yahoo accounts on the same computer. It doesn't work if you have two separate windows or instances of the same browser, and then try to access different Yahoo accounts from different windows. There's only one cookie store, so the separate windows from the same browser won't keep things straight. But if you use separate browsers, each stores its own cookies, so that they can keep the account open.

I have a second Yahoo account that I occasionally use, and when I use that account I almost always have it open at the same time as my other Yahoo account. I never have any problems as long as I keep one open in Firefox and the other one open in IE.

Have you considered Gmail? I have used it for years without any problems.

Yes two different browsers. One for each account but they still trip over each other and I'm not exactly sure why. Perhaps because they have the same password? I could try changing one and see.

There are days when everything is clear sailing and days like yesterday and today when it becomes difficult to get anything done.

That would be impossible. The personal one I've had for probably over 16 years. The work one is yahoo based, small business and I have no say in that.

I have the same pw on both accounts and haven't had any problems. I'm pretty strict though that IE is used only for one account and almost always from only one computer. (That's my lesser used account.) The other Yahoo account, which is my principal "general" account, does get accessed from many computers and platforms. On my computers it's only accessed via Firefox, but when I'm traveling and in an internet cafe, I do sometimes access it with IE. With my Droid I access the mobile version of the Yahoo mail web page. I tried the Yahoo mail app for Droid phone and uninstalled the app within one day.

That may be the issue as I was not strict and only recently installed Firefox, figuring to access the sb there and the personal on IE. (I don't like Firefox for ex-ops/copy & past of confirmations etc.) Hmmmm. I have them swapped. SB should be on IE as I regularly and often need to copy & paste confirmations.

Droid did not make it easy to set up yahoo mail accounts and it took some time to find the secret code for the sb account but they work. Often times better than my laptop.

I wonder if I dump cookies out of both browsers if my situation would improve.

Wouldn't hurt. I'd flush the cache on both systems as well.

I have 4 yahoo accounts. Somehow one of them is the newer version. I don't remember upgrading it but I think it upgraded itself. I hate it.

It does weird things like go completely black screen when I am trying to delete emails from the bottom delete button. If I use the back button while reading an email, it logs me out and I gotta log back in. It has lots of "unable to load" error messages where I have to reload the email.

I truly don't see it as an improvement at all. I'm sad that they're changing it cause in it's present state, it really sucks! I'm holding off til the last minute on upgrading it.

I agree. I don't consider this an upgrade. It is a downgrade, and mine changed itself, like yours, without asking. That thing you mention with the back button is extremely aggravating.

Maybe they're gonna try and sell us a "Platinum" email package to get what we used to get for free.

Thanks for the feedback. I would be near suicidal in very short order if what you both are saying is true. I'm in my SB account all day every day and I do a lot of searches, back buttons, etc. I already get "unavailable" messages often enough in Yahoo classic.
