Do the CD's contain files of data? Such as photos, documents, text files? If so then you will not have a problem.

Can you be more specific, like a how-to.

I know I've been told before, but you know how old and senile I am.

Can I network Ole POC to new(er) LT, say by hardwire?

Oh, I just love talking that way, even though it's probably wrong.

The original question had to do with a CD being readable across Windows versions. Since the format of data CDs are an ISO standard, a CD burned on an old OS will work fine on a new OS, and vice versa.

As for networking your "Ole POC" to a newer computer: if they both have network cards (hardwire or wireless), then they can both be hooked up to a network. Networks don't care what OS the computer is running, or how old it is. Just hook them all up through the same router, and you are set to share files to your heart's content.

So, the if they both have network cards would be the determining factor.

Windows XP has a tool called "Files and Settings Transfer Wizard" it can be run from Start Menu/All Programs/Accessories/System tools this will guide you through the transfer process either by network, a easy transfer cable or via an external disk drive.

You can run it first on the XP box to create an installable version for the Win 97 system.

I tried installing the downloaded disks and couldn't. Will wait until my Grandson comes and maybe he can help me.
