  • Help . . . Pat-like Problem

I picked up the same printer I have up yonder, an HP Deskjet 932C, and it won't work.

The only difference is that I have a parallel to USB cable up yonder and I had to get a USB to USB cable here. In Settings, I changed the port to the one that says Virtual USB 932C or something like that.

    I can't even print a test page.

When I logged on, there was a notice: "Found New Hardware", and there were two 932C printers listed in Printers and Faxes. I deleted one and the one left is the default. When I try to print, it shows the document in the print cue for that printer.

In two hours of trying, the printer activated once and I don't know why it did.

Oh yeah, there is a new document in My Documents, USB01, which I can't open.

A possibility . . . is there a different driver for USB to USB than for parallel to USB?

Another possibility . . . I see this note on HP's driver site: Connect USB or Parallel cable when a "Looking for new hardware screen" appears
