ArcSoft Connect Daemon Failing to Open

I started getting that message every time I log on a couple days ago. I googled it and see others are getting it, too.

Is it any big deal?

Is it related to my exclusive use of public wifi the last couple of weeks?

The wording of the message is something like ArcSoft Connect Daemon has encountered a problem . . .

I don't think it has anything to do with your exclusive use of wifi in the past few weeks... I don't think this should interrupt your connections unless your computer's security or firewall was compromised. I found this link for you. They aren't having the same error, but it explains how to restart the program. Hopefully this works for you! Good luck

Not fixed yet.

Link didn't give instructions for XP.

System restore did not help.

You might try running "msconfig" (via the Start command or a command window) and then looking at the services and startup tabs to see if any Arcsoft tool is listed there. You can disable from that interface (it may require a reboot to take affect). I'm pretty sure the msconfig command is on XP, but it has probably been 7-8 years since I ran that OS.

I did that and Arcsoft Connect Daemon is first on the list. It says it's running. I did not do anything because the only option was Disable All.

Is ACD an unnecessary thing? I have seen other suggestions to disable it.

Are you sure "Disable all" is the only option you have? I am looking right now at my msconfig -- it does have the "Disable all" button, but it also has checkboxes by each service listed. I can uncheck one service and click the "Apply" or "OK" button to just disable that one service.

This is a newer version, but it should be similar.

As far as if you need it or not, you can just try disabling it and see if you run into problems w/ your system. You can always re-enable it later.

On some sites I don't get any script errors and on others I get it on every new page, every click. Frinstance, when I was paying a bill yesterday, every digit I had to enter (credit card, expiration date, code, etc.), every digit came with a script error and an extra click.

That was the case on RCI, my last visit before here, but I am not getting it here.
