Anyway, the point I'm taking to make, trying to make, trying to make, trying to make, trying to make, is that texting is just one more version of the written word, something lawyers do everything they can to avoid doing.

So you better not send email, leave voicemail, or make questionable posts on a public BBS. Or better yet, just don't do or say anything that may get you in trouble.

But seriously (getting back on topic), if a person doesn't text because they are worried about it being used against them at a later time, I would say that person has much bigger issues to deal with.

And as pointed out by others, there is nothing special about the iPhone being "private", as you state it. All text messages, emails, voice messages, BBS posts, etc. are stored on a server somewhere. Not really sure why you singled out iPhones -- maybe that is why we are missing your point.

I only text occcasionally. Example: When I want to tell my DH that supper is ready I text him instead of calling. (he's a police officer and I don't want to bother him if he is on a call - easier to just text to get him a simple message).

I do have a couple friends that want to hold conversations via text. I won't do that. When it gets too much....my next message to them is to call me.

I say turn on the text. Try it for a few months - keep it if you like, cancel if you don't!

Speaking of texting, and cops, I'm thinking of installing a LT next to me in the front seat, like they have, so I can be facing it, putin', while I'm driving.
