  • SD Card Question

With the price of SD Cards being so reasonable at times, are they OK to use for long term storage of photos, etc. for back up?

  • #2
Yes, based on my quick research, they are typically good for long term storage. Some types of cards are rated for 100 years. However, I would expect technology to have changed many times during that 100 years, so unless you are going to update from one type to the next type, storing for that long on the card isn't going to work.

Another suggestion I would make is that you have backup copies of the SD cards, just in case one fails, you have another copy.

      Long Term Photo Storage

The problem with SD cards, flash drives and memory cards
are that they are small and fragile: easily lost or damaged.

If you use SD cards, purchase a Targus High Speed Card
Reader/Writer with a USB Port on one end. (Under $10)
