We got a 14.3" HP laptop for my DD from Costco for about $400; she's very happy. Costco has excellent customer support on computers, and a 90-day return policy.
Frank and Lawren, thanks.
I am doing well, just busy as hell. My wife is retired now and it seem we have less time than we did when we were both working.... lol .... Not complaining it is much better than the other alternatives..
Hope the computer stuff helps OP a bit. There are quite a few deals going on online now, and even some in stores like Best Buy but be careful in the big box places to check out what you are getting even in a name brand, they need to make that money for having a brick and mortor spot somewhere.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. I am checking all the websites and even some of the big box stores. I will be buying something soon because it is getting very old reading the forum on my phone!
I really liked my Toshiba notebook but it was getting way too slow so wanted to buy another one but they didn't offer what Dell had to offer so I bought the Dell instead. I like it too. With Dell, I pick up the phone and they help me out when I have a problem. I like that too from ESET and Carbonite.
If you don't need hand holding, I would definitely buy from Costco with the very good return and warranty policy.
