  • iPhone US across borders

Maybe somebody here can help answer some questions. My university is offering a deal on the iPhone as part of a reciprocal agreement they have. What is nice about this phone is that it comes unlocked which would mean that I am not tied to a specific carrier (for those familiar with Canadian telephony I am currently with TELUS). My understanding is that this is a GSM phone, and that all I have to do is replace the SIM card in order to use it on another network.

What I was thinking was purchasing one of these, and then whenever I go to the US changing SIM cards so that I can work off the US networks. I already know that unfortunately two of the networks I would like to use which are Verizon or Sprint are NOT GSM and so the phone would not work with them. So it looks like I am limited to either AT&T or T-Mobile.

Is there a good website where I can compare carriers? Has anybody done this and know that it works?

the data wont work for t-mobile (different freq), if you went with them all youd get is very slow 2g. so At&t is your only real choice.
