Free Antivirus Software

I'm in the process of setting up my old laptop for the grandkids to use and wonder if anyone has any experience, both good and bad, with free antivirus software.

I have used AVG free with no problems.

I use Avast and have it on my mother's computer as well.

I have used AVG as well as paid for Norton and had problems with both and I am now using Avast and find in much better than both AVG and Norton. Just my own personal experience and I am sure some have had great success with AVG but I will not be using it again.

I'm with Larry- had great luck with avast after AVG let me get infected.
