  • help me, I'm such a dufus (doofus?)

Can someone familiar with iPhoto give me an easy way to upload to the photo server? I managed to load some Gurney's pics by dragging the pics to my desktop first, but there must be a better way. Also, can I only load 4 or 5 at a time? That's what it looked like...

Thanks for putting up with my technical illiteracy.

Avery, I only load up a few at a time. I don't use iMac anymore as I prefer using Windows now. I like the Mac for reworking pictures mainly. You should be able to load them up from any folder you choose. It's the same for the Mac or the PC.

So I guess I ought to start by figuring out how to put them in folders...

When you get the pictures from your camera they go into a folder that is in my pictures. Every time you load new pictures in you should create a new folder . most do it automatically by date. but some do not and you have to rename

Avery I am moving this to the Photo help forum so Keith or Timesharetalk Paul can see this.

Avery, when you are trying to put your digital photos from your camera to your desktop, doesn't it ask you automatically if you want to use your camera software of iPhoto? I always chose the software of the camera and put the folder on my desktop with the Mac. I would give the folder a name so that I could burn a CD and put them on the PCs after that. I haven't used the Mac for so long for downloading photo images that I don't remember.

Your camera should give you instructions and the Mac has a tutorial too. I wonder if Pat (camachinist) can help you because he uses a Mac too and he does photography. I hope he reads this or you could send him a private message. Good luck.

hmm, we don't have software for the camera; I automatically load them into my iPhoto library... will poke around some more later, it's time to go canoe-ing!

What camera do you have? You should be able to go to the website and download the software.

hmm, I think its a Canon, maybe an Elph?. Downloading software falls under Tech Support, aka DH. We have Photoshop but it's too complicated for me to use. I will ask him when we get back from Smuggs, thanks.

At the bottom of your screen you will see iPhoto. Click on it and that's where your photos are. I will turn on the Mac and see where they hide that folder and will be back later. You don't need to download the software once you know where the photos are kept. The easiest would be if you read the instructions.

Avery, when you double click on your "Macintosh HD", you will see your "pictures" folder on the left side of your screen. This is where your iPhoto Library is located. However, I do not believe you can do it from there but I found the answer later.

Once, you are in this program, you can click on Help, then iPhoto Help and you will see the contents. I looked under "Sharing photos via email and the web. You can then read how to export photos in bulk. You may want to export them to your desktop and then upload them from there. I don't know if you have to put them in a folder first because I believe it asked for a folder name. Call it TS4MSphotoserver.

Since I have no photos to download from a camera, I can't try it out myself and explain it better. I wish Pat would come to the rescue. He may not read all the topics so I would send him a private pm. He will help you for sure.

Emmy, I found the "desktop" feature in iPhoto. that will be a big help so I can save just the pics I want at one time to the desktop, then put them on the server (provided I can figure out how to do it five at a time I think). Thanks, that is a big help. There is probably still an easier way, but this is a big improvement over what I've been doing!

Thanks, Fern, I feel less doofy, especially since now I can spell doofus.
