  • ripping the audio stream from a MPEG

Anybody know an easy way to do this? I've got a wonderful MPEG of LaVerne Butler singing Days of Wine and Roses that I would like to get into WAV or MP3 format, but I don't know any easy way to do it.

(Will gladly share the output with anyone who provides help.)

    Steve,

This is probably not what you are looking for, but . . . . .

Find an old cassette player/recorder with built-in microphone. Put cassette tape in, put the cassette recorder in front of the speaker, push the record buttons and then play the music you want to record. Voila!

This is the easiest way I know of doing this.

Casette? What's that? Is that some new technology developed by RIM to enable a Blackberry to handle IPod formats?

Tx. Looks as if those sites don't separate the audio stream though, which is what I want.

First thing I did was google it. Got lots of hits, but most of them were similar like the ones you did - not isolating and saving the audio portion. So I figured I'd come here and see if anyone had an immediate solution, before I started wading through stuff.

Xilisoft Video to Audio Converter is a video to audio converter. It can extract audio from MPEG, MOV, WMV, AVI, DVD, VCD, SVCD, 3GP, AVI and save as many popular audio formats such as MP3, WAV, AAC, AC3, WMA, m4a, MP2, OGG, au.

mpeg4 to mp3 is one of the formats listed in the write up.....

              excellent. Tx.

PM me if you're interested in the output. I'll get you both the MPEG and the MP3 if you want.
