  • How do I compress pix to email?

I would like to email, as attachments, some pictures I took while in Seattle. We met with my niece & her daughter and I want to send copies to her siblings and Mom, but the attachments are very large...Four of them from 1403KB to 1933KB each. I know my sister's PC won't accept any of them, and I don't know about the others. But I don't know how to compress them. Help please. TIA.

    Assuming Wintel platform, some freeware...

Iteration I have used allows customizable compression for JPEG and conversion from other image formats.

I work in the Macintosh platform and use Photoshop but have dabbled in Wintel stuff in the past.

Also, if you get a Photobucket (or similar) account, it automatically compresses the pictures when uploaded, but you don't have control over the parameters. That's another way of sharing pictures. Just send the links.

Thanks Pat. Those sound like great programs. I did some exploring within and found that the program will email compressed pictures. I think I have to do it one picture at a time, but that's OK too. But I will try to download the links for future use.

IRFanview does batched conversions, IIRC. You set the compression parameters and it applies them evenly to all selected pictures.

I use a similar program on my Macs called Graphic Converter. I actually use it more than Photoshop, especially for on-the-fly editing/compression. Fast and simple, although my wife might disagree
