  • I want my sentences to automatically begin with Capitals

I have been using Outlook on my new computer for awhile now. Over Thanksgiving my dil was typing on my machine and changed all my Word settings. I use Word as my editor and I type a lot of emails. Anyway I cannot figure out how to set up my email editor so that all new sentences will automatically begin with Capitals the way they used to. I know I set it up in the first place but for the life of me I cannot find the right combination to reinstate that feature. I have Windows XP and I love the auto-correct functionality of the Outlook and Word editors.

    Marylyn,

Go to Word. Click on Tools. Then click on AutoCorrect Options. Check the "capitalize first letter of sentence." Then click OK.

    That should do it.

In Word, Tools, AutoCorrect confirm that the Capitalize first letter of sentence is checked.

Unfortunately my mother used to bring me back down to earth if I said that by quoting the second half of the saying..."Fools seldom differ!"

Thanks guys but it didn't work for some reason.

I have these checked in Word:
              Correct 2 initial capitalizations
Capitalize first letter of a sentence
              Cap names of days
              Correct accidental Caps lock
              Replace text as you type

But still no capitalization of the first letter of the sentence.

              Edit:
I forgot to hit OK before---now it works in Word but not in Outlook for my emails. This is driving me nuts. Any ideas?

In Outlook go to Tools ->Options.

Click on the "Spelling" tab. Make sure the box is checked by "Use Auto Correct when Word isn't the e-mail editor."

If that doesn't fix it, then go to the "Mail Format" tab and check the box by "Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages."
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

                “You shouldn't wear that body.”

                  Thanks Steve,
I am in AC now but when I get home on Tuesday I will give it a try. I know I don't have the Use Auto Correct when Word isn't the editor selected. I can't wait to try this out.
