I really was........I don't know what's worse, not being on the computer, or being on the computer, and having it freeze, every few minutes.

Even when its doesn't freeze, it is going so slowly, that it's driving me crazy.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I'm very doubtful that my DH is going to be able to get rid of all these programs. He's not that good on the computer either. I'm not sure why he choose all these programs to begin with. Ugh, this isn't gonna be any fun.

          Angela,

Go to "start", "settings" then "control panel"

Once control panel opens click "add and remove programs"

find everthing assoc with AOL and remove them.

As for using your AOL mail.

Just go online to www.aol.com and use the online aol mail account.

Question.......Can I get rid of Norton anti virus, the same way. If so, what should I use to avoid trouble with viruses?

              Thanks

You can do an Uninstall with Norton. Go to your programs then > Norton> click on Uninstall.

Now, To replace Norton try the free AVG antivirus. Look in this forum for a link or just do a search on this forum for AVG.

Thank You!!! I'm going to wait for my husband to get home, and then get rid of all this stuff. Hopefully it will do the trick. I never heard of AVG, thanks.

I went to control panel, to take a look. Yikes, you can't believe how many programs are on my computer. BTW, I also have McAfee Virus Scan, and McAfee Security Center?

It appears as if you are running both Norton and MacAfee?? Not a good idea. Definitely dump the Norton. MacAfee is OK; I have it running on one of my computers. But I like PC-Cillin better.

If I have Windows Defender on the PC, do I need additional virus protection?

Windows Defender is an anti-spyware program so YES you need an anti virus too.

There are several good anti virus but many people are unhappy with nortons even though several years ago it was the best it has fallen off alot since then.

DH didn't want to get rid of AOL, at least not tonight. He's on trial, so he has work to do, and he didn't want to deal with this. He did remove Norton, and he installed the new AOL disk. I sure hope it works. I have my fingers crossed.
