  • Question about inserting pictures in our posts

Has anyone noticed that a pop-up window pops up when you are inserting a photo image in your post? I noticed twice already that a picture shows like it is posted but then later it has a little cross ( X ) or a link and the picture doesn't show. I had mentioned this here (post #11) and noticed the same in Robert's thread too.

I tried to insert his Picasa pictures three times but they show in my message but not once the message is posted as it shows a link instead. Picasa may stop it posting but I had the same problem with my windmill picture too but it showed the cross instead.

Does that have something to do with this pop-up window that started popping up recently? Is this new and should we ask Ken?

and then I see the following message in the bar above:

? This website is using a scripted window to ask you for informatiom. If you trust this website, click here to allow scripted windows....

    so I click on:

    Temporarily Allow Scripted Windoes.

If the picture is not hosted at a location which is permanently available then the x box will appear at times. For example if somebody uses a link to their home PC to access a picture, the picture will only be available when the user is on-line.

Keith, my windmills are hosted at Smugmug and are permanently available but I have to take them out of my locked folders where I store all our photo images. I duplicate the picture and put it in a public folder for the forums.

Robert's pictures are stored in the Google Picasa web site. I tried to post them but it didn't work. I tried three times but get a link instead of the picture and so does Robert too. I have noticed the same with some other photo-share web pages also.

What is new to me is that annoying pop-up window. It also showed up when I inserted a photo image today in the TUG forum so it must have something to do with "MS security" or with Panda software and not with TS4MS here.

Will you please try to insert a picture in this thread and see what happens in your case. You have many nice pictures.

I believe that you do not use Internet Explorer. I am curious what you get. TIA.

I think you may have to have the picture on our photo server for it to work in a post.

The few pictures I have uploaded to picasa are available, as I have made them PUBLIC. Anyone going to http://picasaweb.google.com/RESORT2ME will find Photo Folders labeled to match my report subjects.
Click on the appropriate folder and will open the photos. The too may be clicked on to be enlarged with captions attached to them.

There’s also a Slideshow if desired. That may take a while to download.
