  • Where do you print your digital pics?

Where do you get your digital pics printed? My folks have a relatively new digital camera and my mom's griping that it's not as easy to get prints as it was when she dropped the roll of 35mm. They have a dial up connection, so uploading to Shutterfly or another online service is not practical for more than a few pictures. She did a trial run at CVS and said the prints weren't the greatest. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    I use http://www.dimeprints.com/
They are usually one of the lowest cost, and great quality. The big advantage is that you can "load" as many photos as you want before you upload. Some sites only allow you to load 10-15 at a time. You do have to download a program to do this. You can also Zoom in, recenter, etc. before uploading. When I'm ready, I hit the upload and go find something to do for a while. I have cable, so it will take longer with dial up, but should work as long as the connection doesn't get lost.

Here is a link that lets you compare prices; don't forget to select shipping on the left side.

I stated earlier that I like the ability that DimePrints let me select and edit all of the photos before I upload. They usually are the lowest cost, and even if not, for over 100 prints, its worth the extra $1-2 for the upload feature.

          Costco

Since I am a dedicated Costco customer, I have to recommend Costco. You can do this online or go to their many locations.

I upload my pictures to Walmart. Never had a problem and get good quality prints. I especially like the 1 hour service.

We mostly print our own. We have an Epson Picture Mate Delux which is a small printer that prints 4x6 photos. It uses a dye sublimation process instead of ink jet process. Using good photo paper the pics come out as good as any I have ever gotten from a picture place and because of the process the printer uses they will outlast any inkjet prints by lots of years. The pics are supposedly good for at least 20 years.

Thanks everyone! I'll suggest Costco to her now since uploading to anywhere will take forever. Then I'll keep suggesting an upgrade to DSL. They were so close recently then backed off. Grrrr!

If she doesn't belong to Costco, she can always go to Walmart. They can show her how to load her cards at the store. shaggy

Check out Fedex Kinko's. They have Sony Picturestations. You can put in any media card, cd, or USB drive. The prints are excellent.
They can help you get started on the machine, it's a breeze to use. you can crop, enlarge, red eye remove. Pretty cool and pretty fast. While you wait!
