What is a good simple software program for doing and keeping a family budget? I used to use Quicken, but it has become way to complicated for my purposes.

I use HomeBudget. Have been using it for 9 years, every single day.

You can add as many accounts as you want and allocate a budget each month for particular expenses. It has reminders for bills or automatic payments etc. Mine's quite complex as we have many accounts and investments but it can be used for the most basic of budgets as well.

It's so versatile. We'd be lost without it.

Any spreadsheet programme works for me.

My wife unfortunately has difficulty with spreadsheets.

I don't think spreadsheets can seriously be used for a full budget. At least not one where live and linked transactions, accounts and assets are kept. You need things like reminders, automatic budget allocation, regular payments, double bookkeeping, etc, which would be clunky, if not impossible, to do with a spreadsheet.
