Desperate camera HELP....I erased the pictures!

I re-formatted my camera card with the graduation pictures on it....

Don't ask why I was such an A** but I was trying to change a setting and hit the wrong thingy......they are the only pixs of DDs room-mates' nursing pinning ceremony....plus other great pixs.

I am extremely unhappy and upset and will pay ANYTHING to get these back.

Can anybody suggest where I can go to get this fixed?????????
    or who to call......????????

    anyone????????

Pat, god I hope I'm wrong but I think they are lost forever. I accidently reformated my camera and lost my only pics of a bear sitting on her haunches eating berries. shaggy

Pat, Unfortunately when yuu reformat a Memory card think it actually does a distructive write over the data (photos) unlike when you do an erase of files where the data is still there but the file allocation tables get changed to show the files are erased. However just to be sure you could contact a good local computer store to see if they can do anything to recover the data.
Again, I'm sorry to say I don't think they will be able to but it is worth a shot anyway. Check with a good computer store and see if they do any file recovery work or know anyone that does in your area.

Take the disk to a computer shop that does data recovery. If it's a disk such as an SD disk, they can put it in a SD disk reader that will see it as a lettered drive, and they can attempt a file recovery.

          Good luck.

The images certainly may be recoverable as long as you haven't used the card again since. It will require specialist software to do the job but it can be done.

I have used a Program called File Scavenger that was able to recover photos on a drive I reformatted.

We took a 4 day vacation to DC a few years ago and I deleted all the pictures on my card and wrote over them before I knew it. I was soooo sick.

I purchased a program called Picture Rescue and was able to recover all my pictures in perfect quality. Even the movie clips of my family I recorded at the Kennedy Center.

I was amazed that it came back as if it never went away.

Ended up trying Photo Recovery Software to Recover Images and Pictures - Card Recovery and was able to get most pictures back.

I'm happy to hear that you were able to -- AND that this can be done.
I thought you were a goner for sure --
Don't believe everything you read in the book that comes with the camera then....

Ditto, you are correct all is not lost.
However, do not take any new pictures on that disk.
One added picture and all is lost.

Well actually I DID take more pictures on the disk as it was the only disk I had with me at the graduation - which is also why I said I got MOST of the pictures back,,,,,but I am still happy to have as many back as I got which was 60 more then I had before this all started!
