Problem with CD/DVD Drive

On the way to Denver yesterday, I was trying to play a DVD on my computer. I put the CD in and closed it. Couldn't get it to work, so opened the Drive. The DVD had disappeared. I looked in the drive, what I could see and didn't see it. The Grandsons were getting restless, so I tried another DVD and it worked. The other DVD is still in there somewhere, any ideas?

Could it have unknowingly dropped out of the computer onto the floor before you closed the door to the drive? I can't imagine where the disk could be inside the computer. Of course, with my extensive computer knowledge, I could be way off base

I am afraid that someone took it out while you weren't looking. There is no other explanation.
