Dell Inspiron 6000

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop computer. If I try to use it outside with the battery, the screen isn't bright enough to see when the sun is out. Is there a way to adjust the screen so that it is brighter? I have looked in the control panel and haven't found a way to do it, either with the display and/or power options.

Go to the control panel and to power mgt. and change settings under battery to " always on. "

Hit the function key at the bottom left at the same time as you hit the arrow keys on the exact right. That should do the trick.
