I usetado this when it had some meaning.

Last month a friend from OY and I were watching a timeshare on eBay, that I was to place a last-minute bid on. We both watched it for about 30 minutes, both refreshing the page.

He is on cable with a new-ish laptop and I am on dial-up with Really Ole PC. His Refreshes were all but instantaneous and mine were taking about 20 seconds.

Fortunately, except for the bid he snuck in earlier to test that auction, no one else was bidding but me.

Everyone wonders how I can put up with the delay, but I am accustomed to it and I can't think of anything I do that won't still be there in 10 or 20 seconds.

I use a Spint aircard for my laptop. I am in Minneapolis an the site had me connect to Kansas City, Mo. Why, I don't know unless it has something to do with Sprint.

My speed was 1122 and 470.
When I set it to use Minneapolis, I got 1206 and 440. I turned off one of the programs I was using and it went to 1245 and 461. I'll bet if I was using only the speed test, it would be faster.

But...for an aircard, that isn't too bad.

Verizon Wireless Phone card in San Francisco Ca.

                        1414 kb/s down
                        380 kb/s up

This is about as fast as it gets for this card.

When we travel it can be as slow as dial up.

I will let you know what DSL is at home when I get there.
