Just got off the phone, after a good hour, or so. The news wasn't too good. My computer has been corrupted by Internet Explorer, and I need to have it re-set. I will loose everything that I currently have saved.
I'm gonna wait till DH gets home, and see if he can back-up some of the stuff. However, I was told to kiss it all good-bye, for the most part....Not sure why they said that?
I will have to call Dell back tomorrow, to have it re-set.
Ugh, at least if they get the computer to work, it won't be terrible, I guess.Angela

Do you have a USB pen hard drive, Back it up if you do to there, Up load all your pictures to an on line host like snapfish. Check your documents to see if there are any important things there and also copy your email settings and address book.
Now this is just a thought, You might be able to UN install IE and then re download it or use fire fox, I would try that first.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

Not sure what hard drive I have, and am leaving the back-up to DH. I am going to tell him to try and save our pics, and other important stuff. I hope he knows what he's doing.Angela

Originally posted by ArtsieAngYes, I think so, but this job is way over my head. I'm really not much of a computer person, technically speaking.
There are guides available online on reformatting hard drives/reinstalling Windows, based on what operating system you're using (Windows XP, Vista, etc.)
Backup your My Documents (docs, music, pics, vids, misc.) folder and your internet favorites folder and any other data you want to keep, and make a list of whatever programs you use. If you use Microsoft Outlook for e-mail or a tax program, make sure you save that data also. If you have an external hard drive, this will be easy.
Afterwards, AOL will work fine.
Hope you find someone to help you...but honestly... get rid of AOL
EDIT: If you don't have an external hard drive yet, GET ONE. They are tiny now, and very cheap...as low or lower than $1 per gigabyte (i.e. $40 for a 40 gig hard drive). You just plug in and start copying.

Just wanted to thank everyone for all the help, and input. I am still having major problems with my computer. In fact, with each attempt to fix the problem, it somehow keeps getting worse, not better. I can no longer use it, for anything.
My DH re-installed my program last night, and although the installation went well, Internet Explorer is still corrupting my computer.....We can't seem to figure out how, or why. Unfortunately, either can Dell, or IE. I have now payed $50. to IE, for a program to fix problems with their system, and $40.00 to Dell, for technical support........Just kill me now, and get it over with.
I know many of you have warned me about Dell, and you are all correct, they are useless, if not dangerous. IE, isn't any better.
I am going to take the advise of SGMD1, and have my DD's boyfriend take a look at my computer this weekend. Maybe he'll know what to do. At this point, I'm getting ready to throw it out the window. It's only a couple of years old, and it was an expensive computer....Too frustrating for words.
I'll be checking in whenever I can use an free computer........Did I mention how much this s*cks.Angela

Thanks for putting up with my constant rants about my computer, the past few days.
As it turns out, the problem was being caused by my Verizon connection, (Not AOL, or IE) and Verizon fixed it last night. They were able to give us instructions over the phone. Took about 20 minutes, or so, and it was fixed.
So far, everything seems to be working.Angela

As Rosana Rosanadana would say, "never mind."
