  • AVG Anti Virus Grisoft

Apparently the free version of AVG anti-virus end on May 31. I am not surprised that they will be charging - and really don't mind it as they have served me well for free for a long time.

However, $ 0.00 to $59.95 is quite a jump - especially since I have 4 computers in my household. That price makes it too expensive for my family.

Does anyone know if the license is for just one or two or three? For about 8.95, they will "extend" the license. Does anyone know what that means?

This is typical of computer people, they are lacking in common sense and do not understand customer relations AT ALL.

The free version is NOT ending. They are requiring that you upgrade from free version 7.5 to 8 as support for 7.5 IS ending. They did the same thing when free version 7 support ended.

They do have a free 8.0 edition which I downloaded after I declined the new version that they were charging for.

Is Bill Murray around? Seems like Groundhog Day, and we've done this before.

          We like our free AVG.

            AVG Anti Virus Grisoft

With 3 computers and being a satisfied AVG user for the past few years, I was concerned about AVG's announced plan to no-longer support 'AVG Free 7' after May 31... this thread saved me some money and eased my mind... I have downloaded 'AVG Free 8'...

I am computer illiterate ... it took some time... sacred me a little... but I got the upgrade done and the program is functional ...

My first download attempt failed I guess I had better get it on again before too long.

If it is ending or we need to download an upgrade (or upload a downgrade), should we have received a notice?

Funny, just as I went to click sumbit, my daily AVG update came through.

Yes. There should have been one or more. Best bet would be to download now. Do a search for "free AVG 8.0" and pick the CNET download. I couldn't find the free AVG on the Grisoft site.

Thank you! My parents just rang asking about it and fortunately I remembered reading this thread a while back so will email the link you just gave.

                      Thanks again!

I'm still using 7.0 without problems

                        What concerns should I have?
