I have used it, but not extensively. It appeared to have good compatibility with word and excel.

I deleted my 2007 office and installed open.org. It works and is compatible.

Yes Bill, I remember our discussion of the office 2007 problems.

Hey Tony, been using it for a couple of years now as you know I'm cheap. Its a good product for free & once you get the hang of it, it works every time. The pic's are great & you can use it as a slide show, try it, you won't be disappointed!

I've used it a bit. It doesn't have quite all the bells and whistles, but it's very good for a free item and compatibility seems to be fine. Still have Microsoft office for home and work, though. Just use it where I volunteer.

I do not use it now. But I did start checking it out last week.

I use WordPerfect currently because I like seeing the formatting info via reveal codes. Is there a similar option in openoffice?

I have it on one computer. I read something recently that said Microsoft is going to add support for Open Office files in an upcoming release of Microsoft Office.

That'll be the day. They've proposed the new format of Office 2007 documents to be the "open" format that everyone should support even there are already other standards they could have adopted. Even so, if Openoffice.org gains enough market share they probably won't ignore it.
