I called and they claimed the 'month' of my credit card info didn't 'come through.' [What a lying sack of shit]

Then told me I needed some memory expansion. I said I only want what I ordered, when will it arrive?

Then they told me I really needed an extended warranty with some stupid song and dance about being a 'China' model. I said I only want what I ordered, when will it arrive?

    They hung up on me.

Out of range of computer for a while today, I called back main # and got customer service is closed. Called again and punched in a random ext, gave them my order number and they said it had been canceled.

When I got to my computer I found this email

They must be selling the GPS at cost and really won't sell you one unless you buy all their add-ons.

There are a few of these slim balls still getting away with this. They used to stick with cameras but since they can not play the game as well with Digital cameras they are moving on.

I try to buy most of my stuff from BuyDig.com, The Internet's Digital Superstore they are good and fast to ship and have some great prices.

I try to get everything from Amazon...at least they stand behind their products, mostly. Remember when NYC was full of slimy gray-market electronics stores? Oh, wait, it still is.

Yep, there are a lot of companies that pull this stunt. They advertise low prices (loss leaders), but will never go through with the sale unless you purchase an "accessory kit" or some other items.

It is just best to forget about them and move on to a more reputable company. I am also a repeat customer of BuyDig and would recommend them.

We had a similar experience trying to buy DS a video camera. He did a lot of research, and when we tried to order the camera, we got the same kind of email message, and on the phone they "wanted to be sure we were aware" that the battery had only a 20 minute recording capacity. We canceled, paid a little more somewhere else, after double checking the reviews. Nothing wrong with the battery...

I wonder if they ever worked in timesharing.

The lower price they show is a scam to hook you. You can only get it if you buy extra that cost a lot more to balance the lower price of the GPS. There are a few reputable sellers out there but they do not have the lowest price on the internet. Anytime they cannot process your order on line, you can expect to be a scam. For electronics, stay with the better know sites like amazon, buy, newegg, etc.

I did buy a camera from 17th Street Foto one time by phone, without the extras. Their price were somewhere in the middle of the internet search. They did asked if I needed accessrories or extended warranty but did not push the sale.

It was them or a duplicate type company that I placed an order for a projector. I wanted something to use on the computer for a user group meeting. Project was a little cheaper than anyone else, so placed the order online. Got the same message-call, we need to talk to you. Asked if I wanted to order the bulb and accessory kit for the unit. I said no, I didn't need one. He asked if I had a bulb already. I asked him 'doesn't the unit come with a bulb?' He said that it didn't. Getting the bulb would have put the price above many other places. Since it ships from the factory with a bulb, I am thinking that they must take it out of the units ordered without the bulb.

I bought the same model projector from Amazon. It cost less money than it would from those guys and came with the bulb, case, remote, everything it should have had.

No more from those 'cheaper than the other guy' places. Stay with the known names.
