  • Xp Sp3?

Does anybody have any recent experience installing XP SP3? When it first came out, I read of some problems with it so have not installed it yet. However, it keeps appearing on my "updates ready" and am wondering how safe it is to go ahead and install it. I would appreciate any information people may have about their experiences with the SP3 update.

John the first couple of times I had to back out by restoring to an earlier saved date on my laptop. It kept causing the blue screen of death for some strange reason. I'm on XP Pro here.

I think the bugs have been worked out with SP3 as I did install it earlier this month and so far so good.

Do suggest you pick a very recent restoral date option before uploading though. You never know and better safe than sorry.

Be sure you have the proper updates for your anti-virus as those seem to be the most affected programs. Otherwise its seems to be OK (and far better than a downgrade to VISTA).

Sorry. I clicked on edit instead of quote.

Thanks for the info. I am running XP Pro and will do a system save right now and then go ahead and install SP3 and hope for the best.

Suggest restoral point of yesterday if you are installing SP3 today.

          Good Luck!

I use BitDefender Plus V10 which does auto updates every hour or so. By the way, BitDefender was Consumer's Report number one choice again.

There is nothing bad bout XP-SP3 but when you load it you'll wont be able to uninstall or remove it once loaded. I've had since it was available from MicroSoft & its been doing a fine job but then again, I'm an "Old Puter Guy" from way back when, so what do I know!
