that will turn my computer both on and off at a certain time. I just tried using "scheduled tasks" in xp to see if it would turn it back on after hibernation, but it did not come on....
Thanks

Using just the one computer I am not sure you can do it thru the computer itself. There is no built in timer in any computers that I know of and once it is off any program will not be running. You can do it externally either thru another computer or a network. Many newer computers have built in to the chip set that lets a network wake them. Or you could use some kind of a timer if the computer allows to power up when it get elec. (unfortunately most don't). Like I said the only way I have done it is thru a network and that was done thru wake up commands we sent out thru the server in a business environment. There is nothing built in to XP to my knowledge that lets you do this.
