which one should i get and why.

also should I opt for a mobile wifi card and a notebook and just use regular cell phone

I am in outside sales and email is very important tool. I end up spend too much time in the office answering emails when i could be out making calls.

    Treo is the winner

Treo. No contest. It is extremely easy to set up for real time email using your existing email accout(s). It is a better phone than the Blackberry both in use features and construction (it holds up better). The screen is smaller yet easier to read as it is higher resolution. Being smaller makes the whole unit easier to carry.

Besides the easy mail & better phone the Treo offers the best integration of contact lists with the phone, web service (get web pages easily on the phone with a data service enabled) and there are thousands of programs for the Treo that can be added. Natively it also offers a built in MP3 player so one unit can also be your "ipod" without carrying another item around. On mine I've added a GPS & bluetooth ear piece so with one small item I get all the resources I need. Phone, PDA, MP3 Player, GPS & more. All for under $300. for the base phone/pda and I've added less than $300 in programs and accessories. I think the Treo is the best electronic product ever made. And soon they will offer the 700p (not the 700w which uses Windows & is too slow & the screen resolution is too low) which will add 3G Internet and more. But right now the Treo 650 is a tough product to beat. Mine is with Verizon but others have them too.

You might want to check out the new not yet released "Motorola Q". Supposed to compete against Blackberry and Treo. You can find reviews on the internet. Supposed to be launched in May. I have been using Blackberry and although great for getting your email and international phone calling... there certainly is room for improvement.

        Depends on your usage patterns...

I live and die by my BB. I couldn't get used to the Treo keyboard. But I do a significant amount of email, both inbound and outbound, on my BB. And I also have no real need for some of the other "bells and whistles" that the Treo provides (not that I wouldn't enjoy them).

It comes back to the never-ending debate out in the BB forums: "business" functionality vs. "consumer" functionality. Blackberry prioritizes functionality development for the BB based on the "business" uses of the device (with the exception of the 7100 series, I believe.) So they are focused on email, SMS, alerts, calendar, Enterprise functions, etc. Treo is more "consumer use" focused. So they tend to prioritize things like browser functionality, audio functions, MP3, images, chat, etc. My personal belief is that such a diversion of focus might have been appropriate for the initial version because of the need to build a market segment. But each market has its' core functionality pretty stable, so they should now maximize by cross-pollenating their functionality.

For me, it came down to my core usage and which better suited what I do.

If your company has BES (Blackberry Enterprise Server), then hands down, it would be the Blackberry. Unbeatable for push Email Service and full integration with Calendars and Contacts (including search of company email address list).

Treo is a great device and great graphics. But business integration is just not there as compared to BB.

If you must use the microsoft versions of word, email (outlook/express) etc then the 700w would fit that use better than BB or the 650. But being forced to run windows really cripples the performance and stability of the Palm. It's not beacuse it's a Palm - its windows no matter what hardware it's on. The beauty of the Palm OS & BB for that matter is they were designed for PDAs and really handle that function well. But if you are more comfortable with the windows interface and programs then the 700w would be better for you than either the BB or 650. Whatever else the compromises it is the most up to date and feature complete implementation of windows on a pda/phone platform. Anything else and you'll be in a new environment and it sounds like learning something else doesn't interest you. Nothing wrong with that if it makes you more comfortable but the best implementations BB & Palm have to offer just don't run native windows.

It does not have to run windows but it does have to sync up with Microsoft outlook, open word, excel, and pdf attachments

The Treo 650 will do that as it comes out of the box. I think you have to have the expansion card installed to handle pdf as they are large files. Documents to go handle the word & excel files and lets you edit them if you wish. Agiain due to the size of those files its best to store them on the sd card rather then fill up the main memeory og the Treo.
