  • need computer advice

I have a4 year od Gateway. In Wisconsin it works fine, I use juno dial up, it works as fast as my nighbor who is on Verizon high seed.

I have wanted to get a high speed connection, but can't find the same vendor in both Florida ad Wisconsin Dells. I have Verizon phone in WI and Embarqe in Fl. (Fort Myers ara)

In Fl, my juno or et zero connections just do not work. i have uninstalled and reintalled numerous times. when I do connect the speed is so slow that I am wasting hoiurs.

Then when I disconnect, it doesn't disconnect. I hae to pull the phone plug from the computer

so first question - best high speed internet. I think I have only two coices comcast or Embarq. does anyone know of another choice and also any peference between these two. If any one knows a erver I can use in both Fl and Wisconsin Dellsthen iwould grab them;.

My second thought. It may be time for a new computer. i can see desk tops for only 400 and I would go out and buy one today if it would help my conecting to the interenet problems. Maybe a lap top would be the smart thing, and i would buy one but I don't know what to lookfor.
I see lots of sales too. would i be better of waiting for black Friday?

so advice in two areas are welcome:
high speed internet connector an new computer.

Hang in there a couple of months- January is the traditional best month to buy computers. Also, Windows 7 is coming, so I would wait for it rather than settle for the highly demeaned vista OS. Whether you decide to buy a laptop, desktop or both- go with a dual core (tri core or quad core) processor.

I just removed norton anti virus from my computer, and it is working at a slow but decent pace now.
Yes, i would like to wait to purchase the new computer, but i think I am going with high speed internet. i just wish I could get one that would work at both homes.

Getting rid of Norton was probably a good choice. I hope you have some other AV software on your computer. If you need a free app, grisoft's AVG is a good choice.

We use Cox at one home and Bright House at the other with no problems.
