  • What a nightmare, I almost lost it all

I just spent the last 8 hours trying to get my computer working. I have no idea what happened. I logged on this morning and then it just crashed. I tried every thing to get it back, I ran CHDSK and maybe that might have helped as it did repair some errors. I came so close to reformating my hard drive. First time in over a year that I had my computer crash using Vista.

What a relief to open this thread. From the title I though Frank had been dancing on bars again. The image wasn't pretty.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

        “You shouldn't wear that body.”

I have been working on getting my Lap top going since 9 am. Well my info is all gone and it looks like the hard drive went, I can not be sure but I think my wifes cleaning woman drooped my lap top. I am using my wifes computer and because I gave it to her for Christmas last year she says it is hers and I can not always use it, Yea right Anyway my lap top had duel drives so I may try swapping then to see if I can re load windows because right now it will not finish.

                    Maybe but I doubt it.

It sounds like a hardware issue and not an OS issue. Did your 2nd HD have an OS on it?

Have you done an Internet search using the laptop model and the error message you are getting or the symptoms you are having. Sometime doing that you will find that a particular model might have a known issue. I did that on computer I had and found out the MB had a known issue and when the I called the manufacture I got a free replacement. I recommend this to a friend who had a Gateway and got his fixed free. Forums are where you can usally find this kind of information. His and mine where you of warranty. Good luck!!!

I am not sure what is up now, It will not load the OS in full and it keeps bringing me back to the recover page, What really got me is I have 2 120 gig hard drives one that I removed that was bad. The other passed the hard drive test. As it was loading the OS I got a meassage that said my hard drive was full. When I looked it said it was a 24 gig hard drive not 120 gig. Tony sent me a link on a Dell deal so I am confused now on if I should fix mine or get a new one.

I think they might. Amex replaced our 18-month-old printer, because using Amex to buy the printer had doubled the warranty. We were stunned, too, but it was very no-muss, no-fuss.

There might be some limitation on computers, but you should definitely call Amex and try to put in a claim, Frank.

I am on the phone with Amex right now and am putting in a claim, I hope it works. They said they will have the computer claims rep call me with in 48 hours but this can take up to 3-5 weeks.
