New AVG

The good news is a new free AVG 8.5 is available. The bad news is a new free AVG 8.5 is available.

I got the alert on DW's fancy schmancy LT, saying updates on 7.5 will stop in April. So I downloaded and installed it on her LT.

8.5 is almost twice as big as 7.5 and it took about 45 minutes at warp speed.

A good thing is that is said the install uninstalls 7.5.

Then, the bad news, I downloaded 8.5 to Ole POC. At sub-warp speed it took about four hours. It ended with a notice that Ole POC's Ole version of Windows will not support 8.5.

So, come April I guess I'm screwed.

I'm running 8.0.238 and haven't received notice of either a new version or the cessation of product support. I think my other 2 puters are also running an 8.0 version.

I did a google for AGV, and got the free download. No problems.

It's always been that way. Then, when you look really close you find the free version.
